Votive candles can be found in Roman Catholic Churches. You can find them placed on the feet of icons, such as that of Jesus Christ and Mary. They can also be found in statues of saints and other high-profile characters in this religion. The candles symbolize veneration and adoration. There are also long ones, which can be put in a special holder with images normally associated with Roman Catholicism.
One of the reasons for lighting votive candles is to offer a prayer. There are times when a person who is in trouble, pain, or confusion is not near you and that you cannot really offer direct consolation to him. There can also be situations wherein you feel that no amount of words will ever provide comfort or solace, or you’re simply scared to approach him for one reason or the other. What you can do is to light a votive candle and say a silent prayer. The candle will then stand for your intention, and hopefully, your prayer will be heard.

Votive candles are basically sold everywhere. You can find a lot of them in department stores, even in home improvement shops. After all, there are already a number of households that are using them as decorations besides their usual significance. They are place on tables, desks, and, of course, altars. These types of candles can also be purchased in the World Wide Web. When you want to go for something cheap, you can always visit Ebay or other auction sites. You can also buy them at discounted prices during sale or when you order them in bulk.
But if you really want to save while never losing its meaning, you can light a virtual votive candle. All you have to do is to choose a website that offers such and pick one.
