Unlike gold or silver, platinum has a much shorter history. It was rarely used by ancient civilizations maybe due to its sparse deposits around the world. The only known civilization to use platinum was the pre-Columbian people who created a platinum-gold alloy for purposeful and decorative use. It was not only to the 1700's that platinum was beginning to get recognised as a new element, making it still relatively new. During this era, platinum was found to be in its pure state, a metal that is somewhat more durable than gold and tarnishes far less.
This elite metal is worshipped for its beautiful gleam, which reminds one of a bright beaming moon on a summer's night. Platinum because of its expense and prestige is well cared for by jewelers, who will give the metal an extra special polish in order to bring out that beaming shine. Due to its durability and beautiful gleam, jewelers usually utilize platinum for special jewellery, such as wedding rings. They are an apt symbol for marriage as they are long lasting, durable as a marriage and brightly glimmer like any beautiful relationship.
